Artist in residence programme is created to provide artist support for circus creation, at the same time creating local contemporary circus programme through production support and education.
Activities during residency:
1. PRODUCTION – work and research on production of a show
2. PRESENTATION – work in progress presentations of a performance or show in development
3. DISCUSSION– moderated conversation with the audience about the background of the artist work and conditions in which they create
4. EDUCATION – workshops teaching skills of artists specialised disciplines
The space
„Mala scena“ center for contemporary circus is 450 sqare meters area, equipped with dance floor, mirrors, 8x8m tatami floor, 14 rigging points for aerial equipment at 5 to 8 meters in height and 6 crash mats. There is also dressing room with mirrors, 12m2 big audio studio, a depository and small kitchen with basic equipment. Central space for rehearsing can be transformed into a black box theatre, and it is used for short presentations and different performances using basic sound and light equipment. For more complex sound and light requirements, performances and presentations are held in amphitheatre or other areas, depending on artists concept.
